Diary of a Wimpy Kid

I have started to read the book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney. I started to read the book only because I needed something. What happens it that there is a kid named, Gregg Heffley and It was a new school year for him. He wants to be a "cool" kid that year, so he tries anything. He also has a friend named Rowley, But the problem with that is that he is a regular kid. He doesn't desire fame like Gregg. Also gregg just completely embarrasses himself on the first day by fighting with a girl. That is all I read about so far.

Gregg is a very determined person. I know this because in the book he says "I will do anything to get myself to the top." He also tries signing up for activities so that he could get more fame. He also tries to do the most obnoxious things just to get attention. That is why Gregg Heffley is a determined person.

The Walking Dead

I have started reading the book "The Walking Dead, Rise of the Governor" by Robert Kirkman. So far what I read was that A group of people with kids and adults were surviving a zombie apocalypse and a evil villain "Governor" was the one who started the spread  of the disease. They travel around the city trying to stay alive. That is all I read about so far.

Penny is a girl that had survived with her dad. She is a very brave girl because she wants to help with lots. She always insists if doing something. For example in the book it says "Please can I come with you?" What happened was that her dad was going to go check on something and Penny wanted to come with. That is what makes her brave. Also I am not going to keep reading this because I never really liked the type of genre that it is.

Where Things Come Back

I read a book called "Where Things Come Back" by John Corey. The book starts off by a teenager named Cullen and he says how he has never seen a dead body. Afterwards a few days later he sees a old woman's dead body. he found his cousin dead, but how he died was that he strangled and beaten to death. His whole family were depressed after they found out about it. That is all I really read so far.
Cullen is a person who doesn't forgive too quick. I know this because in the book it says that he was mad at his cousin so he didn't tell his family about the dead cousin. The family were the ones who found out themselves. I don't think I am going to read this book because It's not interesting for me. Also the person who recommended it to me told me that it is ok, not too good.

The Hobbit

I finally finished "The Hobbit" and what happens is they get into war, bilbo and the elves, and it takes hours to win.  Many people died during the war. Then when that was over there was another problem that occurred. There was a dragon that terrorized  the town. Then was happened was that They were trying to kill it for a while already, but it just returned. Then something either exciting or horrible happens. Find out yourself.

There was a character that helped do something important, don't want to spoil it, and his name is Bard the Bowman. As you can tell by his name, he is good with bows. He is very courageous and he is determined. I know this because in the book he says "I am willing to face the beast and slay him into bits". He is very strong and wouldn't give up. That is what Bard the Bow man is like.

The Hobbit

What is going on so far in the book is that there is lots of fights that are appearing. By fights I mean like wars. People are always hating each other for no apparent reason, but thats just them. Something that I just noticed is that this takes place before the book "Lord of the Rings." Bilbo the hobbit keeps on going on the adventure with Gandalf. They have found out many things but I don't want to spoil it thats really all the important events that happen.

Gandalf is very committed to whatever he does. I know this because in the book "The Hobbit" it says "Everything you do will effect the future, which is why I do everything the best that I can." This is pretty much telling us how committed he is. Bilbo also follows that rule because he listens to pretty much everything that he Gandalf says. That is what Gandalf acts like in the book.

"Would we be Killed" Blog

Native american were marginalized in society in many ways. One way Native Americans were being marginalized is by white men taking their culture away. I know this because in the article "Would we be Killed" it says "Pratt believed that the children needed to completely abandon their "indian-ness" in order to succeed in American. "Kill the Indian, Save the man," That was Pratt's saying." This shows that the white people didn't like the Native American's cultures and the way they live, so they decided to completely change their lives. No more of what they use to do or any traditions. Also the phrase "Kill the Indian, Save the man," was bad it's self. That was how the Native American were marginalized.

I think the propose of Shanice Britton's essay is to show how the Indian Culture didn't change and is still around. They wanted to show how they live and have been for a while. Also to show that they aren't living in tepees and stuff like that. They have regular lives, but still do costumes.

The Hobbit

I have started reading the book "The Hobbit " by J.R.R. Tolkien. They book so far is about a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins and he was sitting out in front of his house. A wizard named Gandalf came up to him and asked his Bilbo wanted to come on an adventure. Bilbo ends up saying no, but the next day Gandalf comes back with 13 dwarves and are ready to party. Their purpose was really to persuade him to go on the adventure. He was handed a contract and finally Bilbo agrees to go on the adventure  after they had all left and he ran after Gandalf. He took nothing with him, just a contract in his hand. Thats really the main points so far.

Bilbo seems like he is a courageous guy because some random old man comes to him and asks if he wants to go on an adventure. If it were me I would never do it because you never know. Also he is brave because he is going on an adventure and to me, adventure means there will be dangers and risk. I would never do what Bilbo did because I am not as brave as him. That is what Bilbo acts like and what he is.

Ungifted

I have finished the book "Ungifted and what happened was that it wasn't just Donavan talking the whole time. It sometimes changed into other kids personal thoughts about Donavan. What happened was that Donavan wasn't doing so good in the ASD because he just really believe in himself. Then people just kept thinking that he wasn't going to pass anything in his life. Until he finally thought that he could do it. He tried and worked hard for only one test. People were saying "I'm not saying he will pass the semester, I'm just saying he is passing the big test." He also started to realize that he is gifted but none of the others don't have the gift. Thought of it to be silly and anyone can do it. Then once it started getting towards the end of the book it just talked about other people that were at ASD. I will let you find out what thats all about.

I found something about the book that keeps on showing up. Every chapter starts with "un". I think that is because it wants to show something negative about someone. I think that it is also showing that all the people in the ASD that are "gifted" aren't perfect. That is probably why Donavan start thinking more positive about himself because he notices that about everyone. That is what I noticed comes up again and again in the book.

Tolerance

Tolerance to me means acceptance because everyone is different and they might be real different from you,but you still go on and talk to them as you would to anyone else. Also when people say things like Gay, Dyke, and Faggot, I think they should think about the people around them because they might never know how someone else might feel

Ungifted

I have started reading a new book called "Ungifted" by Gordon Korman. It is about a  kid in Middle School named Donavon and he thinks that he is Ungifted. He is alwasys talking abaout how no one in his family is like him. He thinks that he is different, "Ungifted" he says. He alwasys likes to fool around in school and pull pranks on people. What he did was a prank and instead of getting in serious trouble, something goes wrong and he is sent to Academy of Scholastic Distinction (ASD). This is where "Gifted" people are sent. He doesn't think he belongs their. Donavan says that only the best of the best go here. That is pretty much all the interesting parts of the book so far.

I think that the book isn't going to be great because so far what I read it's boring. I think that I am going to abandon this book because I do not want to sit and read something I don't like for 2 weeks. Nothing is  happening really, he just goes on and on about his life and he just won't change topics. So I guess I'm going to abandon the book.

The Maze Runner

The book that I am reading right now is called "The Maze Runner" by James Dashner. I haven't read much because I only just started on saturday. So What happens is that there is a kid names Thomas and what happens to him is strange because he wakes up in an elevator, but he cannot remember anything in his life except for his name. I would Have been scared for my life. Wouldn't you? So then he stays in darkness for a while until a door above him opens up and a couple of other teenagers pull him out with a rope. That is all that I have read so far but can't wait for more.
I want to make some predictions on the book and about what I think will happen. I think that since the book is called "Maze Runner" The teenagers will have to go through a maze with obstacles. I think this because when Thomas was pulled out with a rope I could imagine them wearing a suit that allows them to move more. If that does not happen then I think that it will be something that no one in this world would expect. That is what I think will happen in the book "Maze Runner"

Finally Finished

I finally finished the book "Personal Effects" and what happens is that Matt has spent most of his time trying to research on T.J.'s death, which he can't quite find. It got really confusing for me because things just kept changing and I wasn't ready for it. So then Matt finds out some more things about T.J. that he never knew. Im not going to tell you what it is. Well then because of all of this Matt life is getting harder and harder form him because he just keeps failing classes, Ignoring his dad's lectures, and fights. He ins't able to redeem himself because of the tough times that he is going through but everything changes in the end for him. Read the book if you want to know.
The book is an ok book because it gets a little too confusing at times and i don't know what is going on at times. It might be real good at the beginning because of the fights and what is going on, but then it gets boring as you read. It gets boring as you read because all of the intensity gets real low and everything settles down. I would and wouldn't recommend this book for those reasons. Also because it depends on what you like and what you don't That is what this book is about and look into it if you want to know what happens.

Near the end of Personal Effects

I have read way more of the book personal effects and what is going on is pretty confusing and deep at the same time. It is confusing because the book was focusing on T.J. but then now it's talking about a man that is cheating on someone and it just overwhelming. Something that really effected Matt is that T.J. died while at war. He found out because people in army suites came by his house and gave him and his dad T.J.' clothes. Also Matt is disappointing his dad very much because Matt isn't doing good in school and he doesn't wan to go to the army. His dad is mad that he is not doing good because he wants Matt to go to College. Matt is going through rough times and he is starting to get very stressed because of this. That is all I have read about so far.

I think that the book is called "Personal Effects" because of all the things that Matt is going through, it is really effecting him in school and outside of school. Matt won't do good anywhere because all he can think of is T.J. and now since he is dead, it makes things ten times worse for him. Also Matt dad won't stop punching him around and hitting him "for fun". I think if i got constantly bothered and hit everyday, I would be more than mad because it would get irritating. I wouldn't be able to focus on anything if I knew I am going to get hit when I get home. Well that is why I think that the book is called "Personal Effects".

Still reading

I am still reading "Personal Effects" and I have gotten pretty far. What I have read is making things so intense. Matt's dad finally comes to the office where he talks to the principle for awhile. His dad is the one mainly talking in there and they both end up leaving. Matt was scared because his dad hits him and tells him he is weak. Matt was sitting in the car in science. He thought that his dad was going to tell him things for sure, but he didn't. He stood quiet for a while and then finally spoke. Then once they get home his dad just wants answers about how the fight started. Thats all I have gotten to so far.

Matt keeps bring up a guy named T.J. and I really don't know who he is. He always brings him up when he is just talking about fighting or getting hurt. I'm thinking that he is Matts brother or cousin. It has to be a relative. They are very close because in the book it says "We'd been hiking together since  I was Twelve" This means that they have been together for awhile because he is already 17 years old. They have been hiking for about 5 years already and they would go all alone. That is what makes me think that T.J. and Matt are close. Also I still wonder what T.J. has to do with fighting and acting tuff.

Further in the book

I have gotten further in the book and what is happening is that a couple of guys stopped the fight. Matt was sent to the principle's office and waited for his dad to come. He was waiting already for 2 hours and he still hadn't shown up. So what the principle decided to do was talk to Matt for the remainder of the time. Matt didn't listen to him because he knew either way he would be suspended. So he just sat back and looked at the ground. Matt really doesn't like the principle because Matt has gotten in trouble before and it wasn't good for him. So the principle, Pendergast, was still talking to him, but Matt didn't care to listen. He said that he got soo close that he could smell his nasty breath. Thats really all thats happening so far and I wonder what his dad will be like.

I think that Matts dad will be mean and tough also because Matt acts that way himself. Matt gets put down by him and that may also make him disappointed in Matt. I think what he wanted was a kid who works out and is big and buff. Someone who is cool in school, but instead he got Matt. I also think that when he gets to the office where Matt is waiting, things are going to go down because he might start yelling at his kid and Pendergast. I can't wait to read the next few parts of the book. Thats what I think Matts dad will be like.

Personal Effects

I have started reading a new book called "Personal Effects" By E. M. kokie. I haven't read much but it seems like once I start reading further into the book it will be real good. So far what I read is that there is a kid who I believe is Matt, it's pretty confusing in the begging, and he just really hates this one kid named  Pinscher. I think that is his nickname the Matt gave him because while reading I think someone called him Pete. Ok so Matt hates Pete because Pete has a bunch of pins and stickers on his back saying things like "Iraqis are people too" and other things like that. Well he gets hated by Matt because of that. What I'm thinking, it's because he had a sibling that was in war and died, and Matt doesn't want to be reminded. Well then Matt sees a pin on Pete's backpack and just wanted to get a closer look so what he did was slam pete into the locker and read it. When he finished reading it, he just started to beat up Pete. He broke Pete's nose and broke a couple of things. Things get very intense in the beginning. That how you know its gonna be a great book. That is all I got to so far and hope to read more.

Matt personality is very tough and acts like he doesn't care. He isn't hated by anyone and has friends by his side. He acts this way because his dad never believed in him growing up and wanted to show him that he was tough and not a wimp. I think that once he gets what he wants he will change. He will change his personality by acting much nicer, more chill. I can't say very much about him because I have just started the book but I also think that he has a soft spot. I don't think he's all bad. Oh and he is 17 years old, so he isn't small either. I never thought that a 17 year old would act this way. I thought that they would be calm and nice, but I guess thats not everyone. Well that is what I think that Matt will be like in the future of the book and that is how he acts now.

Nearly done

I am still reading about Rosa Parks, but I am very close to finishing it. What I have read so far is mainly what i already know. There were new things also that I read. I never knew that she got arrested in a bus after other important things. I thought that she was just getting the boycotts started. Also that she helped organize lots of boycotts and sit inns. If you don;t know what a sit in was, it is when the African americans went into a restaurant and sat down in the white people section and they wouldn't move. She also got to meet lots of famous people after they ended segregation. The thing that she got the most was respect for what she did. She knew MLK and other people from the NAACP.
In the book she kept coming back to one thing that she talks about in the book. She keeps bringing up when she sat in front of the bus. I think that is so because she thought that she really inspired people to start doing more things like her. She wanted people to start going against the white men but in a non violence way. I think that it was pretty smart of her saying that she wants them to fight in a nonviolent way. I also think she says that because of MLK and other nonviolent leaders. Thats just something that I noticed her constantly bringing up again and again.

Rosa Parks

I am reading a Non-fiction book that is about Rosa Parks. The book is a autobiography so it makes it more interesting for me. She writes a lot about what happened during her life and how things went. She explained that what she went through wasn't easy. She says she was discriminated by all the white people in her town. She was also talking about slavery but I wasn't sure if it was about her because what I know some things about her but not all. Well then she goes on about how her life is during segregation. She writes that you are being pushed around by everyone and you can't go into one public place without having people yell at you. Thats all I have read so far.

She is a very brave person and an Up stander because she stands against segregation. She doesn't want to be pushed around anymore. Also she is strong because no matter what happened, she fights in a non-violence way. She wants to reason with them even though they don't like them. She also has gone through so much and wont give up on what she believes in. She can be an advocate to many people that are going on strikes because she shows that you can do lots without violence.

Academic/Personal goals

An academic goal that I am going to set for 2015 is that I want to improve way more in a couple classes. They are Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Lit Studies. I am going to start some steps that will help me achieve my goal. The first thing that I will do is that I am going to start paying attention to what the teachers have to say instead of ignoring what they say sometimes, that way I know what to do. Then I will keep up to date with all my assignments and not put them aside like I usually do with a lot of my classes. That is what brings me down. Next I shall try hard at every assignment I get so that I can get a higher score than I would to get if I really didn't try. Hard or not, I will try to do the best that I can. Those are the steps I will be taking to get better grades.

A personal goal that I am going to set for 2015 is that I want to be better at soccer. I will start the steps by training harder. I don't try that much because I really don't like the exercised  we do at practice. Next I am going to try new things that would make me better during the game so that I could play longer and be known as the best player in the team.  That will also give me better chances to get into way better teams that go to tournaments in other countries. I am also going to try to train during my own time in my backyard. I will try extremely hard to make my parents proud and to reach my goal.

New Things I Learned about the book Hatchet

I am still reading the book Hatchet and it is really good because Brain has to survive and kill some animals, find resources and stay alive pretty much. He got very lucky that his mom got him a hatchet, otherwise he would have died out there because he would not have anything to protect himself. I thought for sure he would have only lasted awhile and a search party would find him and save his life. Instead it is way better than that because I love that type of genres. It gets people thinking about what is going to happen next. He says that he thinks that something is lurking and watching him and that is something to be afraid of.  Also he is really struggling with what is going on in his life and how he has to be alert of his surroundings. I will leave the rest for you to find out.

While reading I made some predictions and the first one is that I think that Brian will get injured by fighting an animal and before he faints because he is too weak, he is found and taken to a hospital. Which leads to him being saved and lives life normal. The second prediction is that he will just grow up in the jungle, knowing where everything is and he makes a house himself and he doesn't have anything to worry about. He will live like Tarzan.

Begining of the book Hatchet

I have started reading a book named "Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen and it is about a 13 year old boy named Brian Robeson and he was on a small air plain and then he remember about his parents divorcing. That was about a month ago and  he is heading towards his dads place over the summer to cut down some trees because his dad is a mechanical engineer for oil drills and whatnot. His mom gave him a hatchet and before he left so that he could cut down some trees. The pilot is telling Brian that he is feeling some pain in his shoulder. The bad thing is that it results into a hert attack as the pain increases. Brain is in shock and goes to find the radio. Right before he could take in the information he was given the radio goes out and the engine dies. The nose of the plane is pointing straight down and there is nothing he could do. He sees a lake in the distance and thinks he has a chance to make. He makes it and swims towards the shore and faints. That is where his adventure begins.

Some thing that is noticed is that he kept bringing up the "Secret", about when his parents divorced. That happened about a month ago and you would think that he is over it but he isn't. Most people that I know that has parents that are divorced got over it in about 2 weeks. On the plane ride he kept that in his mind until of course the pilot had a heart attack. I wonder if later on in the book he will keep on bringing it up.
